A brief history of the Jaume d'Urgell hotel

Upon his arrival, the Mayor of Balaguer, Mr. Viola, will present the Minister with the keys to the city. Accompanied by provincial and local authorities and officials from his Department, he will visit the archaeological remains of the Castle of the Counts of Urgell. For over two decades, it was a landmark in the city of Balaguer and the surrounding area, as a hotel within the Paradors Nacionales network. In fact, the hotel boasted a spectacular café, a swimming pool, and one of the most famous nightclubs in the province.
In the early nineties the building was bought by the Roiger-Juny family, a few months later a twenty-year contract was signed for the building to be part of the network of health buildings in Catalonia.
From 2014 to 2018, renovations were carried out to adapt the residential building on three of its floors, and in 2022 the first floor was opened as a hotel with 16 magnificent rooms.
A well-located hotel, at the gateway to Montsec and the Pre-Pyrenees of Lleida, where you can enjoy a multitude of activities in nature and savor the fantastic gastronomy of the region, and of course, visit the wonderful city of Balaguer with the square with the most porches in Catalonia.
